«Коридоры власти». Имеются в виду важные министерства на улице Уайтхолл в Лондоне и их высокопоставленные государственные служащие. Это выражение впервые употребил английский писатель и физик Чарльз Перси Сноу (1905—80) в романе 'Homecomings' («Возвращение домой», 1956), а также использовал его в названии романа 'Corridors of Power' (1964 г.). Хотя главные герои большинства его книг довольно инертны, их мысли и поступки касаются, главным образом, проблем власти и престижа. Произведения Ч. Сноу показывают глубокое и тонкое понимание нравственных аспектов современной жизни.
